Ad Astra Carlo Rambaldi

Der italienische SFX-Künstler Carlo Rambaldi verstarb am Freitag nach langer Krankheit im Alter von 86 Jahren. Während seiner Karriere gewann er drei Oscars für King Kong, E.T. und Alien. Seine Spezialgebiet war die Mechatronic, die Animation von Puppen mit Elektronik und Motoren, den digitalen Effekten stand er immer skeptisch gegenüber:

“Digital costs around eight times as much as mechatronics, E.T. cost a million dollars and we created it in three months. If we wanted to do the same thing with computers, it would take at least 200 people a minimum of five months.”
